25M. My first dates usually go well in my opinion. Good conversations, laughing, and I feel a genuine connection with them. But almost every time, she later tells me it felt too platonic, and we end up just friends in fact a few have become very close friends and are very important part of my life but that is not what I want at this point.
I have asked the why they felt it was too platonic and most can't pinpoint why. One said I never really broke the physical barrier which is true but I have some past trauma around touch that makes that hard, so It is a difficult advice to follow. Another said she felt too comfortable with me before we even had the first date, I am not sure what to do with that honestly. Should I not be too friendly or get to know them before the date?
I bring flowers, ask a lot of questions, and I am genuinely interested the whole time so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. What am I actually missing, and should I be dialing back how close I get to someone before a first date? Please advise as catching feelings for someone and then getting friendzoned is very exhausting mentally.
